OUR HISTORY
Built in 1906, the MBI Motors building has been home to only a handful of businesses. Since the early days, our building has housed mechanized transportation of some kind. If the walls could talk, there would be stories of selling and repairing Ford Motor-Coaches, Can Am Motorcycles, Skidoo Snow Machines and Mercedes-Benz automobiles.
In 1969 an enthusiastic entrepreneur by the name of Sig Raethke opened the doors to MBI Motors. Sig took the initiative and his good business sense to a whole new level by starting one of the first and finest independent Mercedes-Benz repair facilities that remains in full operation today.
In January of 2010, Corbin Lancaster and Debra Pannu made the long trip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Portland, Oregon to take over the operations at MBI Motors. Corbin has over 30 years of Mercedes Benz experience, working at Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale and owning his own Mercedes-Benz and BMW repair shop as well. He is proud to bring his expertise to MBI Motors.
ABOUT THE STAFF
The team at MBI is dedicated to providing a standard of top-level service. Having specialized training and the right equipment makes all the difference in where you should bring your Mercedes-Benz. Our shop takes this very seriously and makes it a priority to stay on top of the latest trends and technology to ensure that you are getting the service you deserve. Our technicians are actively receiving training on the latest diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques for even the newest models of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. All of our technicians have at least 10 years of experience; with some having 40 or more! Combined, there are over 400 years of Mercedes-Benz experience at MBI Motors!
We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our team — Syd Somes. Syd is an experienced ASE certified parts specialist with 20 years of BMW and Mercedes-Benz experience. Previously he has worked as parts counterman and service advisor for Knappa Auto in Seattle, Washington. Syd has a strong focus on the customer experience and prides himself on providing the highest level of customer service. He is a US Military Veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps and is excited to be joining the team here at MBI Motors!
