I came to MBI after years of having my W204 C-Class serviced at the dealership, while also doing much of my own work on the car. Naturally, this problem arose at the most inconvenient time possible, just three days before a cross-country drive and move to Texas.
I heard the characteristic startup rattle associated with the M276 engine, I suspected either a camshaft adjuster or a timing chain issue. With no time to perform the repair myself, and knowing what a job of this magnitude would likely cost at the dealership, I began searching for a reputable independent Mercedes specialist.
I called MBI, explained both the symptoms and the urgency of my situation, and trusted them based on their excellent reviews. They exceeded every expectation. They replaced the failed camshaft adjuster and the Bank 1 upper timing-chain tensioner, while also identifying a vacuum leak and a cracked ignition coil that I had not yet discovered. They completed all of this in less than 4 days, which was exceptionally impressive given the scope of the work and my limited timeline.
The documentation and quality of their work went well beyond what I anticipated. They did not simply address the immediate failure; they also performed sensible preventive work that should help protect the engine from future issues. Their communication was outstanding throughout the process, and B at the front desk was consistently friendly, helpful, and professional.
Most tellingly, the cost of the parts exceeded the labor charge. Anyone familiar with dealership service, especially for a repair this involved, will recognize how strongly that reflects MBI’s honesty, efficiency, and craftsmanship. This is clearly a shop staffed by highly skilled people who take pride in doing the job correctly rather than inflating the bill.
As someone who genuinely loves Mercedes-Benz vehicles, understands the work involved, and deeply appreciates quality workmanship, I would be hard-pressed to believe I will ever find a better shop than MBI. My only regret is that I spent so many years going to the dealership.. and that MBI did not follow me to Texas.
